Skate PEI Volunteers
Help make skating happen across PEI. Our volunteers support not only Skate PEI events, but also local skating clubs in their shows, test days, and activities. Whether you have one hour or a whole weekend, there’s a role for you.

Why volunteers matter
Skating in PEI runs on community power. Volunteers and officials make events — from Section competitions to local club shows — safe, fair, and fun. When you help, you:
- Support Island skaters of all ages, from beginners to competitors
- Learn new skills and gain experience you can use anywhere
- Meet great people and be part of the skating community
- Students: earn community service hours and build your resume
We welcome youth (15+), parents, alumni, and community members. Accessible roles are available — if you need an accommodation, just let us know on the form.
Your time helps keep skating strong in every rink on PEI — together, we make it happen.
Roles you can try
Pick one or more. We’ll match your interest and schedule.
Officials & Tech Team (training provided)
-
Judge/Official (development pathway) — Learn how programs are evaluated and help ensure fair results. Long‑term pathway with courses and mentoring.
-
Technical Official (TS/TC) — Identify elements and calls during programs using Skate Canada rules. Great for detail‑oriented people.
-
Data Specialist — Build start orders, enter scores, and run the results software. Good for people who like computers and accuracy.
Note: Officials roles may require specific Skate Canada training and, for some events, a criminal record check. We’ll guide you step by step and cover fees where we can.
Event Operations (no experience needed)
-
Registration Desk — Welcome athletes and coaches; hand out badges and info.
-
Ice Captain / Runners — Keep events on time; guide skaters to the ice.
-
Announcer / Music Operator — Read intros and play music (training provided).
-
Live Stream Crew — Camera operator or stream operator (we’ll train on our setup).
-
Awards & Hospitality — Prepare medals, help with volunteers and officials’ lounge.
-
Set‑up / Tear‑down — Help with signs, tables, cables and tidy up after.
Time commitment is flexible. Shifts are usually 2–4 hours. Choose mornings, afternoons, evenings, or specific days.
