2024 Skate Canada PEI Award Banquet

Celebrate the accomplishments of our athletes, coaches, volunteers, and officials at the Awards Banquet following the AGM. The banquet will include a lunch, awards presentation, and a keynote speech. It's a fantastic opportunity to honor those who have made significant contributions to our community over the past year.

Banquet Details:

  • May 4, 2024, 1:00 PM (registration starts at 12:30 PM)
  • The Loyalist Country Inn & Conference Centre – Summerside (195 Heather Moyse Dr, Summerside, PE C1N 5R1)
  • Menu: Mixed Green Salad, Island Turkey Dinner
  • Dress Code: Semi-formal
  • Tickets: Nominees attend for free. Guest tickets are $20 per person.

For nominees and their guests, payment for guest tickets can be made via e-transfer to scpeitreasurer@gmail.com. Please include your name and the number of guests in the transfer description.

  1. Skate Canada PEI CanSkate Award: Honors a skater for their enthusiasm and dedication to the CanSkate program. Criteria include positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and full participation.

  2. Skate Canada PEI STAR Athlete Award: Recognizes a skater's determination and commitment to the STAR program, highlighting their personal growth, achievement, and contribution to the sport.

  3. Skate Canada PEI Podium Pathway Athlete Award: Awards young skaters or teams for their spirit, dedication, and top-ten finish at the Sectional level, who are role models combining off-ice and on-ice training.

  4. Skate Canada PEI Program Assistant Award: Acknowledges program assistants who significantly contribute to their clubs, demonstrating mentorship and long-term commitment to figure skating.

Skate Canada PEI Skater Recognition Award: The Section Skater Recognition Award is presented to a skater who embodies spirit, dedication, and determination, and has shown significant involvement and achievements in both skating and community activities. This award highlights the recipient’s overall contributions and commitment to the sport.

  12. Skate Canada PEI Gold/Diamond Tests Achievement Award: This award honors skaters from the Skate Canada PEI section who have achieved a Gold Test in Skills, Freeskate, Dance, Artistic, or their Diamond Dance Test during the 2023-2024 Skating Season. It's a testament to their dedication and excellence in mastering these challenging elements of figure skating.

  13. Skate Canada PEI Stephen Dennis Memorial Trophy: The Stephen Dennis Memorial Trophy is awarded to dance, pair, or synchronized skating teams registered with the Skate Canada Prince Edward Island Section, recognizing their achievements at regional, interprovincial, or national levels. The trophy celebrates teams that exemplify the spirit of skating, sportsmanship, dedication, and creativity, along with their volunteering contributions in skating and the community.

Skate Canada PEI Debbie MacMurdo Leadership Bursary

Celebrating Debbie MacMurdo's Enduring Impact in Figure Skating

 The Debbie MacMurdo Leadership Bursary, established in 2020, is a tribute to Debbie's exemplary leadership and unwavering dedication to figure skating at all levels. As a distinguished member of the PEI sports community and a 2017 inductee into the PEI Sports Hall of Fame, Debbie continues to inspire and shape the world of figure skating with her passion and commitment.

This bursary supports active Skate Canada PEI members who demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities, balancing academic and skating commitments, mirroring Debbie’s ongoing influence in the sport. Each year, up to two recipients are awarded a bursary of up to $1,000, supporting their educational pursuits.

    - Bid Committee Member and Board of Director of the 2023 Canada Winter Games, serving as Sport Lead for Figure Skating.
