Who should enter (PEI)
-
PEI expects entries this season in Women’s Pre-Novice and Women’s Novice.
-
Other Pre-Novice/Novice categories (Men, Pairs, Ice Dance) follow the same rules if applicable.
Qualifying Minimum Score (QMS)
QMS is the TES (Technical Element Score) of the Free Program (no bonuses/deductions).
The Qualifying Minimum Score (QMS) is the benchmark Technical Element Score (TES) for the free program that must be met or exceeded in order to enter Skate Canada Challenge or Skate Canada Trophy (as applicable). Note, that the QMS is the TES only and does not include bonuses or deductions.
Pre-Novice and Novice: The QMS must be met between July 1st of each season and the deadline date for entries to the Skate Canada Trophy.
| Men | Women | Pairs | Ice Dance | Solo Ice Dance | |
| Pre-Novice | 20 | 23 | 12.5 | 15 | n/a |
| Novice | 23.5 | 24.5 | 16.5 | 18 | 15 |
| Junior | 34.5 | 34.5 | 25 | 24 | 24 |
| Senior | 44.5 | 39.5 | 35 | 38.5 | 38.5 |
Junior and Senior: The QMS must be met between July 1st of the preceding season and the deadline for entries to the Skate Canada Challenge.
| Men | Women | Pairs | Ice Dance | Solo Ice Dance | |
| Junior (achieved between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026) | 35.5 | 35.5 | 28 | 24 | 24 |
| Junior (achieved after July 1, 2026) | 34.5 | 34.5 | 25 | 24 | 24 |
| Senior (achieved between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026) | 44.5 | 40 | 38 | 40 | 40 |
| Senior (achieved after July 1, 2026) | 44.5 | 39.5 | 35 | 38.5 | 38.5 |
The QMS must be met at the same or lower level of competition, and in the same discipline as that to be competed in at the Skate Canada Challenge or the Skate Canada Trophy. The QMS may only be achieved at a domestic Skate Canada event or an international event.
Athletes qualify to Skate Canada Challenge or Skate Canada Trophy as follows:
- Normal Quota Entries: The normal quota of entries is granted to each Section (as outlined in the Sectional Championships – Normal Quota of Entries portion of the Competitions rule) if the QMS has been met. It is the Section’s responsibility to confirm that the minimum score has been achieved by each of their entries.
- Exception to QMS – if a section has no entries who have met the QMS, the QMS requirement will be waived for one entry in that category. In Senior, this entry must achieve the QMS prior to or at Challenge in order to be eligible to advance to the Canadian Figure Skating Championships.
2026–27 QMS (Pre-Novice & Novice):
-
Women – Pre-Novice: 23.0 TES
-
Women – Novice: 24.5 TES
(Men/Pairs/Ice Dance QMS apply per Skate Canada if needed.)
Important:
-
QMS must be achieved between July 1, 2026 and the Trophy entry deadline.
-
QMS may be achieved at the same or lower level in the same discipline.
-
Section quota: PEI may send up to 3 entries per category (Pre-Novice & Novice), provided QMS is met.
-
Exception: If no PEI skater meets QMS in a category, we may still enter one skater in that category.
-
Local PEI note: For team consideration, PEI has set an additional minimum TES of 17.5 for Pre-Novice Women.
After Sectionals (accept/decline)
-
Any qualifying skater must confirm acceptance within 24 hours of the conclusion of Sectionals and complete Trophy registration by the stated deadlines.
-
Failure to confirm on time may forfeit the spot.
