Events Offered

    There will be four categories of events:
  • The STAR 3 teams will participate in the elements event and team cheer categories. The STAR 3 teams will not perform a free program.
  • The STAR 4 teams will participate in three categories; free program, skills, and team cheer.
  • STAR 6(Juvenile), STAR 8(pre-novice), Gold(intermediate), Novice and open teams will participate in a free skate program. They will skate twice along with an official practice.
  • Adult teams will participate in the free program category.

  1. CATEGORY 1 - Team Cheer
    Teams will perform their team cheer and it will not exceed 90 seconds in length. There will be no props or skating. Marks will be given for originality, creativity, unison and enthusiasm. The team will practice once towards the audience. They then turn and perform for the judges.

  2. CATEGORY 2 – Skills Competition
    A skill will be drawn at the ice surface as teams enter the ice surface. The skills will be drawn from the list below. All teams will enter the ice surface and line up at boards until their team is called to practice and then to skate the skill for competition. All teams will then exit the ice surface. Teams will have an opportunity to practice the skill twice. Each team will be judged on the skill demonstrated.
    1. Pivoting element (block)
    2. Linear element (line)
    3. Intersection element
    4. Rotating element (circle)
    5. Rotating element (wheel)

  3. CATEGORY 3 - Elements Event

  4. CATEGORY 4 – Free Program
    The following sections contain ONLY the specification and eligibility requirements. For specific technical information, please refer to the Technical Program Requirements posted on the info centre for Skate Canada.
    STAR 3 and STAR 4 categories will use the Skate Canada access to standard program requirements guide. STAR 3 will be assessed to standard and STAR 4 will be assessed to standard and ranked. For more information on the assessed-to-standard program, please visit the Skate Canada website.
